Mid-20th century chopstick rests are made of porcelain and decorated in a blue and white ‘sometsuke’ (undercoat). The rests feature a design of a rabbit motif. The chopstick box is lacquered wood, decorated with with inlaid mother-of-pearl in floral and hearts motif. The technique is known as as ‘Arden’ and has been used in Japanese lacqueware for centuries. The chopsticks 7.5” superb vintage red and pink Bakelite w/ mother of pearl square. Beautiful set.
